I originate from Northumberland in the north of England, a place steeped in history where no other part of Britain can boast of having more Castles, Bastles and Pele towers or indeed, more battlefields. To the far north, near the castle of Bamburgh (Din Guyaroi fortress, seized by the Angle chief, Ida in 547 AD) home to the Kings of Ancient 'Bernicia' (Northumbria) lies the small Island of Lindisfarne, where early Anglo Saxon Christianity was established by the Irish Monk St Aiden (635 AD) and the site of one of the first Viking Invasions in 793 AD. To the south is the City of Newcastle upon Tyne, once centre of the coal trade, fishing and the Industrial Revolution of the 18th and 19th Century. Throughout the ages, Ancient Celts, Roman Legions, Angles, Viking Raiders, Scots and the Welsh all have left their mark on this land of moorland, hills and windswept beaches.
My lifelong passion for art led me to study Graphic Design, branching out to work in furniture and interior design, before setting up my own graphic design studio, developing corporate identities, retail interiors, CD artwork, brochures and illustrations. I switched direction and moved into High Security Design although throughout this period continued producing my artworks, mainly watercolours and pencil with a number of works displayed at local art exhibitions.
I moved from the UK to Tasmania in 2014 and have continued to focus my art in trying to capture the natural beauty of nature. From seascapes to wildlife, I hope to share with you some of my work in the gallery sections.
